Day 1
Road Town, Tortola
Meet your new crewmates and Captain. You arrive in the afternoon and get acquainted
with your boat, your new home for the days ahead. Your captain will
hold a meeting to discuss the itinerary, review safety procedures, and get
everyone ready for the journey ahead. You'll enjoy dining on deck
while watching the sunset over the Caribbean.
Day 2
The Indians/Norman Island
The Indian's
(at right) are a geological wonder. Here you'll discover schools of
beautiful silversides and colorful coral. After
snorkeling, we set sail for Norman Island.
It is said that Norman
Island was the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure
Island. Everyone aboard will be given instruction on how to
operate our tender. We use this smaller boat to get from our yacht
to the shore.
Day 3
Sandy Cay/Little Harbor, Jost Van Dyke Sandy Cay is
located south of Jost Van Dyke and looks like a Hollywood version
of a deserted island. Only 14 acres large, it is accessible by
motoring in with our dinghy from our anchored yacht. In the afternoon,
you'll raise anchor and practice jibing the boat as we head east to
Jost Van Dyke. Here we pickup a mooring in this tiny harbor. That
evening you'll have ice cream at Sidney's Peace and Love where
tourists have decorated the ceiling with T-shirts.
Day 5
Monkey Point, Guana Island
After an
amazing sail along the north side of Tortola where you practice tacking
and jibing techniques, you'll arrive at beautiful Monkey Point. There you can hike, snorkel, participate in water sports, and
watch the beautiful sunset over the Caribbean Sea. A quiet night on
board will be perfect after a long day on and in the water.
Day 6
Bitter End Yacht Club, Virgin Gorda
The entrance to this harbor is challenging, giving the crew an
excellent opportunity to master their navigation skills. Once in the
harbor your captain will give a lesson on picking up a mooring
under sail. The yacht club ashore offers you a chance to relax on
the beach, stretch your legs and take in a movie.
Day 7
Marina Cay
After a day of exploratory sailing
practice, arrive at the beautiful
Marina Cay, a tiny island dotted with bungalows and the famous Pusser's restaurant. You'll spend the afternoon underwater
exploring the vibrant sea life of the BVI. A must see is the
360 degree view from atop Marina Cay. Marina Cay is well known for their
homemade milkshakes.
Day 8
The Dogs/Leverick Bay, Virgin Gorda
The Dogs, a collection of tiny islands to the east of Virgin Gorda,
boasts several diving/ snorkeling sites including The Chimney, Coral
Gardens, and Bronco Billy's. Here you will see amazing rock
formations, vibrant corals, and may even free dive down to an
airplane wreck!
Day 9
Trellis Bay, Tortola
At Trellis you'll enjoy time on the beach browsing
Aragorn's art and pottery studio, writing emails home at The Cyber
Cafe or sending an
ecard from the BVI.
Marvelous huge copper sculptures line the
shore. You'll have a quiet night on board with your crew, as an
exciting day of sailing is in store for tomorrow.
Day 10
The Baths/Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor, Virgin
Gorda
Wake up to the beautiful landscape of The Baths. You and your
friends will explore the many tunnels and passageways created by the massive
boulders that surround you. After scrambling the Baths you will head into the
pleasant marina of Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor.
Day 11
Anegada
The surrounding reef of this island will test your piloting and
navigation skills. A taxi will deliver you to one of the most beautiful
beaches in the Caribbean. There you will find sea turtle nests, and
explore a phenomenal reef. A fresh island-style dinner and a nap under
the Sea Grape tree round out the day.
Day 4
Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Your lesson
today will be man overboard drills and jibing as you head to Cane
Garden Bay. You'll find beautiful, picturesque homes dotting this
half-moon-shaped beach. Enjoy playing volley ball on the beach.
Tonight you'll make tacos and your captain will tell you about the pirate
history of the Caribbean islands.
Day 12
Village
Cay, Tortola
Today you are sailing to Road Town, the capital of the BVI, where you'll dock. At Village Cay Marina you will
have the chance to explore Road Town, enjoy swimming in the dockside pool,
and treat yourself to delicious homemade gelato. The afternoon will be
spent hiking to the highest point in the BVI and through a rainforest.
Day 13
Soper's
Hole, Tortola
This is your last stop before heading back to our marina in Road Town.
Today you and your crew will spend the day enjoying shore side
facilities and shops full of real Caribbean flavor.
